Therapeutic Services

Every program at HollyDELL is designed to help the student’s development through a variety of physical, academic, vocational and social skills through a multi-

sensory approach. A host of therapeutic services are provided on-site, providing convenient, quality therapy integrated into each individual’s school day.

State certified and licensed therapists provide the following services:

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy promotes each child’s special strengths by improving their functional skills in mobility, posture and movement transitions within the school environment. The use of specialized adaptive and assistive technology—including gait trainers, powered wheelchairs, splints and walkers—helps each child progress to their full potential.

Through a prestigious Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation Quality of Life Grant, HollyDELL, Inc. acquired the Lite Gait® and GaitKeeper® mobility devices. These unique partial weight-bearing supported walking systems allow students to learn to stand and walk upright with the proper patterns of walking. In addition, a state-of-the-art playground area allows students to experience the joy of outdoor recreation with friends and classmates during the school day.

Speech/Language Therapy

All students have the need to communicate and share thoughts with others. Our Speech Specialists work with students in the areas of oral stimulation, feeding, alternate and augmentative communication, sound and speech production. Receptive and expressive language skills are addressed so that communication is meaningful.

Occupational Therapy

Occupations are the activities we engage in that have special meaning to us. For children, these involve learning, play and self-care. Some children have sen-sory or movement problems that may make it difficult to participate in these activities. Occupational therapy provides opportunities for these students to engage in activities by:

• Carefully selecting tasks to promote development of skills
• Creating individualized adaptations to materials the child uses, from simple utensils to computer access
• Structuring the activities and environment to provide great opportunities for success
